Maagiri Hotel temporarily closed for disinfection

Following verification of the Italian tourist who tested positive for COVID-19 Corona Virus stayed at Maagiri Hotel in Male’ City for two days, the hotel has been closed temporarily.

A statement issued by the hotel said that for the safety of the staff and guests, the hotel will be closed from today to 16 March 2020 for disinfection.

So far six people have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives. And Kuramathi Maldives resort, Vilamendhoo Resort, Kuredu Island Resort and Sandies Bathala Maldives Resort have been locked down temporarily as well according to the HPA.

State spokesperson for Covid-19, Mabrook Azeez confirmed that 15 employees from the hotel had come into contact with the Italian tourist, all of whom have since been isolated. However none of them have shown any symptoms of Covid-19 as of yet.

There are so far six confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives. All of them are foreign nationals.
