UAE has signed an agreement to provide MVR 771 million (USD 50 million) to the Maldives as grant aid for the year 2020.

The UAE made the made the commitment in the MoU signed between the Government of Maldives and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) signed today, in Dubai.

At the ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid signed the MoU on behalf of the Government of Maldives, while the Director General of the ADFD Mohammed Saif Al-Suwaidi, signed on behalf of the ADFD.

The statement issued by the Maldivian Foreign Ministry following the signing said that he signing of the MoU demonstrates ADFD’s commitment in supporting the development agenda of the Maldives. ADFD has been an important development partner of the Maldives since late 1970s, supporting the country on key infrastructure projects.

And the MoU signed today provides the single largest grant aid by the ADFD to the Maldives.
