Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said that there is a forged statement regarding the COVID-19 Corona Virus circulating that alleges it is from the HPA.

The forged statement says that the Italian national with COVID-19 symptoms found in Thinadhoo was brought to Male’ City for testing. And the Thinadhoo Island has been segregated with no one allowed on or off the island.

The alleged statement from the HPA says that tests are being done on those with symptoms of the disease on Kuredu Island Resort after a Chilean tourist tested positive for the disease after leaving the Maldives. And the management of the island has been ordered to identify those who had close contact with the tourist according to the forged statement.

Following the release of the forged statement, the Head of Media and Communications at the Health Ministry said that the HPA condemned the release of a falsified statement claiming to be from the HPA.

The Health Ministry also noted that the false statement repeated the statement number of the one issued yesterday and lack the seal and signature on the statement.
