Speaker of the Parliament, the former President Mohamed Nasheed, has said that the World Health Organization (WHO) advises not to halt travel and business regarding the global pandemic of COVID-19 Corona Virus.

Speaking regarding the emergency motion submitted by Maduvvari MP Adam Shareef, calling on the government to provide ample supply of staple foods and fuel in relation to the Coronavirus, Speaker Nasheed stressed that the WHO did not advise to halt travel and business transactions.

However, he added that the WHO advised all countries to strengthen their general health sector while keeping a close eye on it.

He further noted that the country needs to be well prepared for it instead of locking up the entire country and waiting to ride it out.

He also said that he believes that the Coronavirus will be found in the Maldives too.
