Maldives has taken part in the 25th Culinary Olympics held at Stuttgart, Germany, from 14 to 19 February 2020, and won two distinguished medals on their inaugural participation.

Culinary Olympics is the largest and the most diverse international culinary arts competition in the world where professional chef teams work on the perfect interaction of ingredients, preparation and presentation. This year, the event is being held together with the 30th INTERGASTRA international trade show at Messe Stuttgart and the event is expected to host around 1400 exhibitors, 2000 chefs and 100,000 visitors from 70 countries.

The Maldives was represented by Joodhy Khalid and Abdul Rasheed from the Chefs Guild of Maldives and competed in the Wedding Cake category.

While Joodhy Khalid won the Gold Medal in the Category, Abdul Rasheed won Silver in the category. Both participants went to Germany on their own expenses.

Chefs Guild of Maldives is working to prepare a team from Maldives for the Culinary Olympics in 2024.
