Speaker of the Parliament, the former President Mohamed Nasheed, has said that the work of the parliament will be based around assisting the government and to make sure the government stays responsible.

The Speaker of the Parliament and the former President of the Maldives, Nasheed made the statement following the President’s annual address at the parliament today.

Nasheed, who is also the President of the main government party, MDP, said that the Constitution has tasked the parliament the huge responsibility of holding the government responsible.

He said that even the President belongs to MDP and hold 75 percent of the parliament. Hence; members of the President Solih. But the parliament is going to make the government responsible.

Speaker Nasheed said that the parliament is going to continue to support the government to protect the constitution and for the future of the people.

He said that the parliament is going to support the government without hesitation when it comes to developing of the people and the country.
