Tourism Minister, Ali Waheed has said that the test results for the suspected Novel Corona Virus patient quarantined in the Maldives.

Minister Waheed said that the although last night the Health Minister, Abdulla Ameen did say that the results of the test will be delivered today, the World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that the results will be available tomorrow.

He said that when the press conference began, they received confirmation that the samples have entered the laboratory. And so, the results are guaranteed tomorrow.

Only a few laboratories around the world can run tests for the Novel Corona Virus. Hence, the Maldives have to send samples abroad to run tests for the disease.

The Tourism Minister said that the daily operations regarding the health alert is being run under the direct supervision of the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Minister Waheed said that the disease has not reached the Maldives and there is no valid reason for the nation to panic.

“And right now, only one suspect (suspected patient) is in Maldives and the sample from the patient has reached to its destination and the we will receive the result tentatively on 3 February. And the result will be released to the public when it comes in.” Minister Waheed said.
