Health Minister Ibrahim Ameen has said that no new cases of measles have been reported within the past two days.

The Minister made the statement during a press meet held by the Health Ministry today to update the public about the ongoing situation regarding measles. Minister Ameen noted that eight people were tested for the disease today, though none of them tested positive.

He also revealed that about 70% of works on vaccinating those living in affected areas as well as workers in hospitals have now been completed.

In case of a massive outbreak, a location has been allocated in Male' to carry out tests - the setup for which is currently ongoing. In addition to this, special transport arrangements for suspected patients to come to Male' from Villimale' has been arranged.

The confirmed number of cases in the Maldives are now three. All three cases are isolated to the Male' region. The Health Ministry has noted that they will be monitoring the atolls for the spread of the disease.
