MDP has said that they will be announcing the MDP Primary on 30 December and the voting will be taking place on 31 January 2020.

According to the MDP timeline for the primary, the primary will be announced on Monday and open three days for voter list and review on 7 January before voting on 31 January.

Candidate application will be closing on 10 January according to the MDP timeline and the candidate list will be announced on 13 January with the final voter list announcing on 15 January.

Elections Commission has drawn the constituencies for women in City Councils for the Local Council Elections set for 4 April 2020.

A total of 923 Island Councilors and 39 City Councilors will be elected in the Local Council Election. As per law, 33 percent of the councilors have to be women.
