A Maldivian national is being treated in intensive care following a dangerous traffic collision in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the information on Twitter and said that the Maldivian Embassy in Thailand is at the hospital.

The single vehicle incident took place when the car lost control and flipped over while travelling from Suvarnabhumi Airport to the hotel they were staying at.

One Media has learned from sources that a Maldivian named Ahmed Saeed from Hulhudhoo, Addu City, is being treated in connection to the incident with serious injuries. He is being treated at Rama Hospital in Bangkok.

Initial reports say that two Maldivians were involved in the traffic incident early this morning. However, later reports have confirmed it was one Maldivian and he is being prepared for surgery, according to the Foreign Ministry.

A friend of the Maldivian victim told One Online that the Ahmed Saeed was travelling in a group of three on a business trip. The friend said that Saeed sustained major head injuries which has caused bleeding into the brain.

The other passengers in the car at the time of the incident are Abdulla Sabah and Ahmed Rasheed according to sources and they were not injured.
