Police vehicle rollover on L. Gan Highway

A police vehicle driven on the Laamu Gan Highway has rolled over.

Media official of the Maldives Police Service confirmed to ONE Online today that a police vehicle rolled over on the L. Gan Highway this morning.

The official said that at the time of the incident, the vehicle was driven by an officer that has a driving license and they were alone in the car. The officer was injured in the incident and was taken to a hospital.

Inquiries are being made regarding the incident according to the police.

ONE Online has spoken to the Deputy CEO of L. Gan Hospital, Mohamed Shiyam who said that a police officer with minor injuries in a traffic incident was brought to the hospital around 9 a.m. this morning and was released after treatment.

A witness to the incidnet told ONE Online that the vehicle was speeding and lost control that led to being rolled over and damaged the car beyond use.

"I was going from Gan to Kadhdhoo then. That was around 8:30 in the morning. When I went there (the crash) the driver was out of the car. I asked and he said there were no injuries. The car was destroyed beyond use. Car is still there. MNDF is working to remove the car." The witness said.
