Elections Commission has said that will put ballot boxes in the countries with over 150 registrations for the Local Council Election.

Speaking on Raajje TV’s “Falasurukhee” program last night, the Vice President of the Elections Commission, Ahmed Akram said that registrations are opened at the Maldivian embassies and consulates abroad and ballot boxes will be placed if there are more than 150 registrations.

Akram said that voting is set to take place in prisons and jails as well. He said that boxes will be placed in detention facilities with over 15 registered voters.

And ballot boxes are to be placed in resorts with 50 registrations.

Yesterday, the Elections Commission released a preliminary report on the Councils and constituencies in the upcoming Local Council Election.

Akram said that any issues regarding the report can be filed until next Monday and so far nine have been filed.
