Department of Immigration has said that 11,545 tourists visited the Maldives via sea last month.

Statistics released by Immigration today show 17,540 people inbound via sea last month with 11,545 people being tourists while 138,645 tourists visiting the country via air.

The government has previously said that they are in talks with the Indian government to start a ferry service between the two countries. The number of tourists visiting via sea is expected to increase once the ferry service starts on a regular schedule.

Tourism Ministry also recently announced that the tourist goal for the year was achieved successfully.
