Saaid wins first gold for Maldives in the South Asian Games

Maldivian sprinter, Hassan Saaid has become the first Maldivian to win gold at the South Asian Games. He won gold in the 100-meter event at the South Asian Games currently ongoing at Nepal.

Saaid with won gold after beating seven other athletes in 10.49 seconds. The second place was won by the Sri Lankan athlete, Himash Eeshan in 10.50 seconds and the third place was won by Sami Ullaa of Pakistan in 10.66 seconds.

The Maldivian athlete qualified for the final with the third place in his heat. The first place in the qualifying heat was won by Sri Lanka’s Himash and the second place was won by an Indian athlete.

Saaid also won silver in the 2016 South Asian Games.
