The postponed 14th South Asian Games will be held in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar, Pakistan, from 3 to 11 April 2027.

The decision was made at the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) Executive Committee meeting held in Islamabad on 23 August. The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) participated in the meeting.

MOC President Mohamed Abdul Sattar and Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed represented the Maldives at the meeting, which was chaired by SAOC and Pakistan Olympic Association President Arif Saeed.

Preparations for the Games and progress made by Pakistan were discussed at the meeting. Olympic committees from participating countries also visited the venues in Islamabad and reviewed preparations with officials from the two host cities.

Around 3,200 athletes are expected to compete across 28 sports at the Games.

The MOC said the South Asian Games are an important regional sporting event that will strengthen ties among South Asian countries and provide athletes with valuable international experience. The Maldives has previously achieved success at the Games.
