Former Deputy Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem and two others have applied for the vacant post of Prosecutor General.
The position was left vacant after Aishath Bisam resigned as the Prosecutor General last Thursday. Her resignation came during a time when the Parliament Committee on Judiciary was investigating her for a potential impeachment.
The application deadline set by President's Office expired today. Even though the President's Office did not reveal the applicants, 'One Online' can confirm that Shameem is one among them.
The President will then send the names in order of priority to the Parliament where their names will be further reviewed by a committee and a vote by the Parliament.
