President of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), the Supreme Court Judge, Abdulla Areef, has resigned from the position.

One Online has learned that Judge Areef resigned from JSC today and the reasons for his resignation were noted as poor health and heavy workload among others.

While Judge Areef has resigned from his position as the President of the JSC, last month, the JSC decided to advise Judge Areef along with two other Supreme Court Judges on cases at the Court. However, the court cases in question are unclear at this time.

Judge Areef was elected as the President of JSC in 2017 by the unanimous vote of the members present at the JSC meeting. He replaced Supreme Court Judge, Ali Hameed as the President of the JSC.
