Contaminated frozen raspberry imported to Maldives

Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has announced that contaminated batch of forzen raspberries of the “Himbreen” brand has been imported into the Maldives.

A statement released by the MFDA today said that the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) has notified the MFDA that a batch of individually quick frozen (IQF) Raspberries contaminated with Norovirus, a highly contagious virus, has been imported from Europe.

MFDA said that they are working to identify and recall the product from the market. And the current information indicated that the product has been distributed only to the resorts.

And so, the MFDA advises importers, sellers and buyers not to engage with products without full information and safety cannot be confirmed.

MFDA said that they are also screening “Himbreen” raspberry with special attention at the border.
