MFDA: No presence of acid in the rain in Male’ City

Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has said that there is no presence of acid in the rain currently falling in Male’ City following Friday night’s chemical fire.

Following the massive fire, many speculated that the rain may have traces of the chemicals and concern spread on social media.

MFDA announced today that they collected and tested the rain on 21 September 2019 to address the public concern and has concluded that there are no traces of it being acidic.

MNDF has said that they are monitoring the area for the next 24 hours as the smoke continues to rise from the now extinguished incident zone.
