The names of the applicants for the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) as a member from the public, has been sent to the Judiciary Committee of the parliament for review.

A total of six people applied when the opportunity was opened to be a member of the JSC according to the Speaker of the Parliament, the former President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed.

The applicants are:

  • Zubair Ahmed Manik
  • Ali Mohamed Manik
  • Ahmed Mizmaad
  • Ahmed Saavee
  • Mirufath Faaiz
  • Hussain Amru

The parliament opened the opportunity to become a member of the JSC as the term of the current member from the public on the JSC, Abdul Hannaan, is ending soon.

JSC consists of the Attorney General, President of the Civil Service Commission, a member appointed by the President, a member appointed from the parliament, a member from legal attorneys, a High Court Judge and a Supreme Court Judge along with a member from the general public.
