President of the Maldives Democracy Network (MDN) Shahindha Ismail has criticized the Maldives Police Service on how they are investigating the MDN’s report blasphemous content.
Following the MDN report entitled “Preliminary Assessment of Radicalization in the Maldives”, Police announced yesterday that they are preparing a detailed research report on the MDN report for the blasphemy on the Islamic faith through three religious scholars.
In response, the MDN President, Shahindha took to Twitter saying that it was the Ministry of Islamic Affairs that requested the police for an investigation and called them “professional” for taking the investigation report to the Ministry to be reviewed for blasphemy.
She also questioned the line of inquiry and raised the question whether the police would go as far back as President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
