President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appealed all to support the Strategic Action Plan (SAP) regardless of different ideologies and opinions regarding it.
Speaking at the special function held to officially unveil the administration’s Strategic Action Plan for the next five years, President Solih said that the administration’s SAP is organised, definitive, prioritised, and time-bound, and is the blueprint for a new era of development.
He added that since the plan has been developed with the opinion of several citizens and companies, it might not include something specifically tailored for every individual. However, the President stressed to support in fully implementing the SAP regardless of these differences in opinion.
Speaking on the SAP, the President noted two major things. The first being a clear written documentation of which projects are to be carried out with definitive timelines and funding methods, organized down to minute details. Implementing these projects remain on the hands of the cabinet ministers - if done so successfully, all presidential pledges of the government will come to a fruition by the end of President Solih's five year tenure.
The second major thing about the SAP as the President noted was making it easier to hold the government accountable for their work. Through the documented projects in the SAP it becomes easier for any one to keep track of the government's works and opens the door for any person or media to raise questions about the progress of these projects.
The SAP outlines the administration’s developmental targets and priorities for the five years from 2019 to 2023. It sets out realistic strategic goals that would help achieve key developmental milestones in realising the people’s hopes and dreams of a “Jazeera Raajje.”
The plan will be used as the administration’s overarching reference point to steer national developmental efforts. It is based on five priority areas; Blue Economy, Caring State, Dignified Families, “Jazeera Dhiriulhun,” and Good Governance. Listed under each of these areas are the precise steps the administration will take to accomplish them, ensuring that each step is time-bound and must occur within a specified deadline.
