The MET Office has advised caution during sea travel an issued a Yellow Weather Alert to parts of the country.

The Alert issued today said that torrential rain with gusts of winds at 45 mph for the islands from Haa Alifu to Noonu Atoll. The alert will be in effect until 1:30 p.m. today.

Weather Alerts are issued in four levels; White, Yellow, Red and Green.

The White Alert is issued to warn caution despite no potential danger while the Yellow Alert indicates possible threat and sea travel is unsafe. The Red Alert calls for immediate evacuation to safety and it is illegal to travel by sea when the alert is in effect. And Green Alerts are issued after the dangers have passed to negate the previously issued alerts.
