Maldives Police Service has said that they will investigate the alleged negligence by two police officers in the case of journalist Ahmed Rilwan, and that they will take action against them if found guilty.
In a statement released on Monday, Police noted that their Professional Standard Command will further investigate the allegations levied on two police officers by the Presidential Commission on Enforced Disappearances and Murders in the case of Rilwan.
Police assured that legal action will be taken against any and all officers found guilty of wrongdoings in the case.
In the statement, Police further revealed that they had shared all evidence gathered during their investigation into the disappearance of Rilwan and added that the commission has shared with them what needs to be looked into further.
While Police assured about probing police negligence in the case of Rilwan, the Commission revealed that two police officers had met with the Immigration Controller on orders by then Tourism Minister, Ahmed Adeeb to obtain a document showing that Rilwan had traveled out of the country.
