The number of cases registered at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has doubled in the second quarter of the year.
Comparative statistics released from the ACC show 259 cases registered at the ACC in the second quarter of the current year compared to 124 cases registered the second quarter of the previous year.
While 135 more cases have been registered compared to the same period of the past year, the number of cases to be investigated has also increased from 110 of the past year to 251 cases this year.
And while the complains reported to the ACC that does not fit the mandate are sent to the relevant institutions, the second quarter of 2019 saw 18 cases forwarded to other institutes. In the same period of last year, only eight cases were sent forwarded.
With 44 cases passed up due to lack of information and/or does not fit the mandate, only 16 cases were passed up last year by the ACC in the second quarter according to statistics.
