Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Maldives has informed relevant authorities to work on recovering over MVR 1.5 million in accounts receivable to the state.

ACC stated on Wednesday that the MVR 1,570,814.44 is accounts receivable to the state from cases the Commission has investigated in April. ACC, however, did not name the authorities in question.

ACC President Adam Shamil stated that the Commission is researching whether there were any legal obstacles in nullifying the challenges faced to recover state money, lost due to various reasons.

Shamil added that ACC needs to produce results to maintain publish trust in the Commission. He further added that ACC needs some drastic changes to ensure the Commission can perform their job in a timely manner.
