A Yellow Weather Alert has been issued for Fuvahmulah City and Addu City.
The alert was issued to be effective from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with winds expected to be at 45 mph in the area according to the MET Office. Heavy rain is also expected in the south of the country.
MET Office issued a Yellow Alert this morning as well from 6:10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to the islands from Gaafu Alifu Atoll to Addu City along with Yellow Alerts to the islands from Haa Alifu and to Raa Atoll.

Weather Alerts are issued in four levels; White, Yellow, Red and Green.
The White Alert is issued to warn caution despite no potential danger while the Yellow Alert indicates possible threat and sea travel is unsafe. The Red Alert calls for immediate evacuation to safety and it is illegal to travel by sea when the alert is in effect. And Green Alerts are issued after the dangers have passed to negate the previously issued alerts.
