The next hearing in the trial of the former President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has been set for 3 September 2019.

Adam Asif on the former President’s legal team confirmed that the court sent the notice to all relevant parties. In a tweet he sent out today, he said that the hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. next Tuesday.

The open trial in the charge of money laundering against the former President Yameen has held two hearings so far where witness testimonies were taken.

And so, at the second hearing in the trial on 22 August, the President of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Muavviz Rasheed and the former Vice President, Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor along with the former Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Abdulla Ziyath gave their testimonies to the court as witnesses for the prosecution.

Witnesses still to testify include former President of the ACC, Hassan Luthufee, Mohamed Waseem Ismail and the former Tourism Minister, Moosa Zameer.

They are all currently live abroad.
