Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the most important core witness to the case against him is the President of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Muavviz Rasheed.

At the hearing today, the Judge Presiding, Ahmed Hailam, gave 30 minutes for the defence to question the state witness, Muavviz. Requesting more time for questioning, former President Yameen said that the case is based on the ACC President’s testimony.

And so, requested as much time required to question them.

Yameen said that aside from Muavviz, the other witness is the former President of the ACC, Hassan Luthufee and have no idea where he is and is not sure if he would appear in court.

The former President said that the ACC President is the core witness for the prosecution and so must be allowed to be questioned thoroughly.
