Money and phones stolen from a group swimming at Vilimale’

Maldives Police Service has started investigating after money and phones have been stolen from a group of people swimming at the Vilimale’ Beach.

Police said that the theft was reported at 10 a.m. this morning. The suspect was arrested within half an hour and the stolen property was returned back to the owners.

Following the arrest of the 29-year-old local suspect, police are investigating further.

There has been a spike of thefts and robberies being reported in this Eid Holidays. And so, police are also investigating a money theft in Alifu Dhaalu Mahibadhoo.

Yesterday evening around 5:46 p.m., a theft of MVR 46,000 and USD 87 was reported to the police and a 25-year-old local man was arrested in connection to the theft.

Police have advised to take precautions against theft as they spike for holidays.
