Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has made remarks indicating towards a possible campaign for presidency.

In an interview with The Press, former president Yameen said that if has the strength, he would work through an election. However, he said, that there are more important things to talk about than running for presidency.

President Yameen heavily criticized the government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stating that judicial system is not working and instead, investigations are being carried out by Commissions formed by the President. The former President raised the question whether it is democratic to do so while a judicial system exists.

While the current leader of the opposition has expressed his interest in seeking a presidency, some of his supporters are campaigning for him saying that former President Yameen is going to get elected in the next Presidential Election.
