The trial of the former President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, in the charge of money laundering is underway at the Criminal Court.

At the top of the hearing today, the Chief Judge of the Criminal Court, Ahmed Hailam said that hearing would include presenting defence evidence and taking witness testimonies from the prosecution’s witnesses.

And so, the judge offered the floor to President Yameen’s legal team.

The defence raise questions regarding the formal form presenting the charges and raised issue that ere was no bench of judges to look into it. They also presented three articles of evidence include two documents.
