The Maldivian public has raised concerns after the stated funded health insurance, Aasandha, was been cancelled from the hospitals in the neighboring India.

Some people have took to Twitter saying that Indian hospitals no longer offer Aasandha and called on the Aasandha company and the Health Ministry to explain to the public how it happened.

A Maldivian in India for medical treatment told One Online that their medical needs are relying on Aasandha and with the service no longer offered at the Indian hospitals, they don’t know what to do.

The man said that they get the service in India before and they depend on the service. And they do not know what to do when the service suddenly comes to a stop. “We don’t have that kind of money”, he said.

A Maldivian family that went for treatment at Aims Hospital in Cochin, India, said that their Aasandha papers were rejected from the hospital.

Both Aasandha and the Health Ministry are yet to comment on the situation.
