After failed compliance from the public to repeated orders from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to clear up the Hulhumale’ Beach area, they have finally cleared it out.
When journalists from One Online arrived at the beach this morning, HDC had cleared a large portion by themselves. Some areas are still being cleaned.
Talking to One Online today, the Managing Director of HDC, Ahmed Suhail said that some areas were not cleared when the deadline in the final notice was met and those places are being cleared by HDC. Suhail said that HDC staff worked on clearing last night as well.
After closing the Hulhumale’ Beach area yesterday, HDC put up a notice ordering to clear out the beach by 3 p.m. The notice said that they would not be responsible for any damages.
HDC said that the area is being closed off for work by the MWSC and the area would be reopened once it is complete. However, the HDC has previously said that the area will be reopened after making regulations for it’s use.
