Two foreign men have been arrested in connection with a case where they rode a stolen motorcycle against a one-way street with an altered number plate.

Those arrested in connection with the case are a 29-year-old man and a 25-year-old man from Sri Lanka.

Police stated tonight that the incident occurred around 02:14 last night. According to police, a patrol beat noticed a motorcycle traveling against the one-way on Lonuziyaarai Magu towards Ruhkendiyaa Hingun and intercepted it.

Police stated that since the rider did not possess a valid land vehicle driving license, the motorcycle was immediately towed to the tow yard. Upon further inspection and search at the tow yard, police found that the number plate mounted on the motorcycle did not match its engine and chassis numbers.

Following this, checking the motorcycle's original numbers through the police system confirmed that it was a stolen vehicle, police said.

Consequently, the two men were arrested on suspicion of using a stolen vehicle, police stated.

Police are continuing to investigate the matter.
