Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Aminath Athifa has said that a low interest housing loan program will be starting next month.

Responding to questions from the MPs at the parliament today regarding construction loans, Minister Athifa said that in an effort to provide housing, the government intends to start a loan scheme with five and six percent interest. And the work on it is at the final draft now.

When asked how the loan scheme would be balanced on a regional level, the Housing Minister said that a decision in pending on the scope of the loan scheme.

Minister Athifa said that all Maldivians will have the opportunity to apply for the loan.
