President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today inspected the ongoing progress of the project to develop Boduthakurufaanu Magu on the eastern side of Malé to modern standards.

As part of the government's key initiative to upgrade the roads of Malé, asphalt laying has already been completed across a large section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu. In this regard, asphalt laying from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was fully completed late last night.

During his site visit to inspect the works, President Muizzu was accompanied by Minister of Housing Dr. Abdulla Muttalib, MTCC's CEO Ahmed Saudee, and other senior government officials. According to the President's Office, the President discussed the progress of the physical works with the relevant authorities during the visit.

The physical works of the project, which commenced on March 23rd, are being carried out at a rapid pace by MTCC. As currently scheduled, asphalt laying from the Foreign Ministry to the Official Jetty will proceed until the end of next week.

According to MTCC, the company aims to fully complete all project works and open the road to the public before the 26th of this month. Currently, the section from the North Harbour to Republic Square has already been asphalted and opened to the public.

Doubling the width of the road and developing it to modern standards under this project will bring significant relief to the transport system. In addition, parking arrangements will be set up on one side of the road, and a fishermen's park area will be established as part of the project. A dedicated motorcycle parking space will also be included in front of the Bank of Maldives main building.

The state budget is spending MVR 144 million on this project.
