The Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare has amended the regulations governing the recruitment of persons with disabilities, introducing measures to increase employment opportunities through designated positions.

The amendment, published in the Government Gazette on Monday, requires designated posts to be created specifically for persons with disabilities. In the civil service, such positions will be determined by the Civil Service Commission, while government-owned companies will designate them through their boards or other approved mechanisms.

The revised regulations also require private companies to follow the same framework when recruiting persons with disabilities.

In addition, vacancies reserved for persons with disabilities must be shared with organisations and associations working to protect the rights of persons with disabilities to ensure wider awareness among eligible applicants.

The amended regulations took effect from the date they were published in the Government Gazette.
