The Maldives officially celebrated its first National Girl Guide Day, marking a historic milestone as the Girl Guide movement commemorates its 75th anniversary in the country.

During the ceremony, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady and Chief Guide Sajidha Mohamed were honoured. The President also presented the prestigious Asia Pacific Regional Troop Leader Unit Award, granted by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) Asia Pacific Region, to 14 Maldivian Girl Guides.

Speaking at the event, First Lady Sajidha said the official recognition of Girl Guide Day by the government was a significant achievement for the movement. She described Girl Guiding as an important service at the individual, national and international levels, highlighting its role in empowering women and contributing to nation-building.

The First Lady also launched the Community Service Toolkit during the ceremony. Guides' Warrants, badges and certificates, including Quartermaster, First Aid and Service Awards, were presented to recipients.

The event concluded with a commemorative memento ceremony attended by the President and First Lady.
