Emirates has resumed flights between Colombo and the Maldives following a four-month suspension caused by disruptions linked to the conflict in the Middle East.

The airline halted the route in late February after the closure of airspace in Iran, Iraq, Israel and Jordan, which significantly affected regional air travel. The conflict also led to the temporary closure of UAE airspace amid security threats from drones and missiles.

During the disruption, Emirates cancelled more than half of its scheduled flights between late February and mid-March. Other regional carriers, including Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways, also experienced widespread cancellations.

Emirates has now restored services to more than 110 destinations worldwide, including the Colombo–Maldives route.
