Police officers who retire after completing 25 years of service will receive the same level of medical care as serving officers, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed has announced.
Speaking at the ceremony marking the 93rd anniversary of the Maldives Police Service, the Commissioner said the cap on retirement allowances has been removed, with benefits now to be paid in full based on an officer's length of service.
He said retired officers with at least 25 years of service will also receive medical benefits based on their years of service.
The Commissioner added that the police are working with the Government to address officers' concerns, including housing, education and technology, in line with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's priorities.
He also expressed confidence that the police service would continue to strengthen its efforts to reduce crime and maintain public safety while remaining committed to serving the nation.
