Minister of Home Affairs Ali Ihusaan has vehemently denied allegations made by the former Controller of Immigration, Mohamed Shamman.
Yesterday, Shamman claimed that the criminal charges brought against him were part of a setup orchestrated by Home Minister Ihusaan to frame him. He further accused the Minister of personally selling immigration quotas for financial gain.
Responding to these claims in a post on X today, Minister Ihusaan dismissed them as completely baseless, noting that Sham-an has consistently failed to provide any evidence or proof to back up his recurring accusations. He added that the media had previously exposed these claims as false.
"The claim that Shamman was framed has absolutely no basis in reality," Ihusaan stated. "This is clearly demonstrated by the evidence uncovered by the police. I have requested the police institution to publicly clarify the detailed facts of this case to the citizens."
The dispute follows a major court ruling yesterday, where Shamman was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The state successfully convicted the former immigration chief on two counts of complicity in extortion, two counts of abuse of official authority, and one count of money laundering.
