President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that scouts have taught numerous important skills and fine customs to Maldivians.
In a post on X on the occasion of National Scout Day celebrated today, the President extended his greetings to the leaders who took the initiative to start the scout service in the Maldives, as well as all parties who contributed to sustaining the scout movement over the past 70 years.
"The scout movement has taught many important skills and fine habits to Maldivians. It has raised responsible citizens for the nation. In addition to strengthening connections between the islands of the Maldives, the scout movement has also become a force that strengthens relations between the Maldives and the nations of the world," the President said.
The President noted that the scout movement is a service that has earned the trust and respect of the public and one that the nation takes pride in. He highlighted that it is the oldest and largest voluntary movement spread most widely across the entire Maldives.
He further stated that alongside the progress and development being achieved by the Maldives, the scout movement will be expanded further in the future, the number of scouts will be increased, and the role of scouting in national service will be broadened.
