PNC Chairperson and Deputy Speaker of the People's Majlis, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, has delivered a sharp response to former MDP President and former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed, stating that a no-confidence vote cannot be taken against President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Nasheed, who is contesting for the position of MDP Chairperson, had stated that President Muizzu's administration would be brought to an end within this year. He also mentioned that changes would be seen through the People's Majlis as well.
Speaking tonight in Addu City at the campaign launching event of Ahmed Saeed (Soda), who is contesting the Addu City Hithadhoo North constituency by-election on the PNC ticket, Abdul Raheem directed his remarks at Nasheed, telling him not to daydream.
"Do not daydream. A no-confidence vote against President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu cannot be taken through the People's Majlis. We will not give any opportunity to do that," Abdul Raheem said.
Abdul Raheem stated that the citizens are with President Muizzu, and that President Muizzu is a leader who is governing for the people by seeking their consultation and opinions.
Referencing the efforts of the three former presidents—President Nasheed, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, and President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom—who have reportedly joined forces claiming to advocate for press freedom, Abdul Raheem asserted that all three are failed presidents.
Abdul Raheem stated that those three presidents cannot even stay together for a single month, as their views are as far apart as the sky and the earth.
Abdul Raheem further stated that the opposition is unable to hold the government accountable, and that they have no real work left to do.
