The opportunity opened to apply for land plots and flats under the "Housing for All" policy has been extended until June 15.
Previously, the opportunity to apply for land plots and flats was open until the end of this month.
In an announcement today, the Ministry of Housing stated that the duration for applying for land plots and flats was extended because Eid al-Adha is a period when many individuals travel out of their islands to spend the holidays with family, and as the government is closed in connection with the Eid holidays, many people have been submitting complaints to the ministry regarding difficulties in completing the required documentation and submitting the forms within the specified timeframe.
Therefore, the ministry stated that the deadline for applying to all schemes opened to apply for flats and land plots from the Malé area has been extended until 23:59 on the 15th of next month.
Under the "Housing for All" project opened by the government, a total of 15,000 land plots are scheduled to be issued from the Greater Malé area, including Rasmalé. Additionally, the government has also decided to issue 7,900 flats from the Malé area. Furthermore, in the distribution of flats, 4,000 flats have been designated for Malé residents, 1,500 flats for people from other islands residing in Malé, and 2,400 flats for special priority categories.
Regarding the distribution of land plots, it includes 10,000 land plots for Malé residents, 3,000 land plots for individuals from other islands residing in Malé, and 500 land plots for orphaned individuals. In addition, 1,500 land plots have been specially allocated for land plots located in narrow alleys of Malé and for those exchanging land plots adjacent to them. Furthermore, under this scheme, individuals who received one- or two-bedroom flats from a previous scheme are also given the opportunity to apply for three-bedroom flats under certain conditions, based on the number of children they have.
The Ministry of Housing has brought changes to some of the regulations for applying for land plots and flats. Accordingly, the opportunity to apply for a land plot has been opened even if the husband or wife already owns housing. Furthermore, the opportunity has also been opened for individuals who received land plots jointly to relinquish the land plot and apply for a land plot individually. In addition, changes have been brought to the criteria for the category specially allocated for individuals with disabilities, and the opportunity to apply for flats from that category has now been opened.
The ministry has requested that prior to submitting forms to apply for land plots and flats, applicants ensure whether the form has been completed for the scheme they wish to apply to, and whether the documentation and information have been correctly filled out, before paying attention to submitting the form within the application window. Additionally, those wishing to submit applications have also been asked to ensure they confirm through the portal that the form has been successfully submitted.
