The Met Office has urged the public to remain vigilant as heavy rain and strong winds are expected to continue over the next three days.
Meteorologist Thahumeena told "One" today that stormy conditions and strong winds are forecasted across various parts of the Maldives for the next three days.
"Average wind speeds for the southern and central atolls will range between 13 to 23 miles per hour. In the far south, speeds will be between 15 to 25 miles per hour, while the central atolls will see between 13 to 23 miles per hour. Winds may gust up to 45 miles per hour during showers. Wave heights are expected to be between 4 to 8 feet. We urge everyone to be cautious as heavy rain and strong winds are anticipated," Thahumeena said.
A White Alert has been issued for the area spanning from Gaafu Alifu Atoll to Addu City, as weather conditions were expected to worsen until 11:30 AM today.
The Met Office stated that islands from Gaafu Alifu Atoll to Addu City are expected to experience winds between 19 to 24 miles per hour, with gusts reaching 40 miles per hour, potentially leading to rough seas.
Over the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Addu City, Gan. According to Met Office reports, Gan received 47.8 millimeters of rain.
