The Maldives has been included in a list of Asia-Pacific countries scheduled to purchase fuel shipments from China starting next month, according to a report by Reuters.

A report released by Reuters today states that the Chinese government has authorized the export of 500,000 metric tons of fuel (petrol, diesel, and jet fuel) to regions other than Hong Kong during the month of May.

Citing Chinese officials, Reuters reported that the Maldives is among the nations set to receive these exports, alongside Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.

The Maldivian government has not yet issued an official comment on the matter.

According to the Reuters report, the majority of the authorized export volume has been assigned to Sinopec, one of China's largest refineries. Additionally, PetroChina has been authorized to export 150,000 tons, while CNOOC has received approval for 40,000 tons.

The report further noted that at least 40% of these shipments consist of diesel and jet fuel.
