Work on the Boduthakurufaanu Magu development project has reached 45% completion in its first phase, according to contractor MTCC.
The project’s third phase (Segments 2 to 5) began on August 24, while key infrastructure work continues to progress steadily. MTCC reported that water reclamation for the first phase has been completed.
Installation of curbstones, sidewalks, light post footings, settlement tanks, and cable trenches is about 50% complete. Stormwater catchpits and cable junction works are expected to be finished next week.
Sheet piling for Segments 2, 3, and 4 is also ahead of schedule, with 145 meters already completed.
The overall project, valued at MVR 144.5 million, was awarded to MTCC and is scheduled for completion within 455 days. The first phase includes widening the road to four lanes from the fish market to Jumhooree Maidan, along with improvements from Chandani Magu to the harbor area.
