Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has announced that the Empowerment Hub for persons with disabilities is on track for completion by the end of July 2026.
The project, initiated through an agreement signed on 14 January, is being developed in collaboration with the Gender Ministry to promote inclusion and empowerment. The facility is located on the first floor of Tower 7 in Hulhumalé Phase II.
FDC Managing Director Hamdan Shakeel confirmed to One that construction is progressing steadily, with most structural and interior wall work nearing completion and flooring work expected to finish soon.
The hub is designed to support persons with disabilities transitioning into the community after school by helping them build skills, gain work experience, and achieve economic independence.
Facilities will include training spaces for hospitality, retail, and IT, as well as an inclusive café and a shop to sell products made by participants. The centre will also feature workshops, activity rooms, and a sensory room for emotional support.
Built with accessibility and community integration in mind, the hub aims to bring together civil society organisations, service providers, and individuals with disabilities to encourage meaningful participation in society.
