The National Service Bill, submitted to the People's Majlis to provide legal authority to the national service initiative started by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has been accepted by Parliament and sent to the Committee on Security Services for further study.
The bill, submitted on behalf of the government by PNC Member for Kulhudhuffushi South constituency, Farhath Mohamed, was accepted during today's sitting with a unanimous vote of all 50 members present and voting out of the 54 members in attendance.
According to the bill, the purpose of its submission by the government is to introduce a National Service Program and run it under a robust legal framework. This aims to empower youth and build a generation beneficial to the nation and society by instilling physical, technical, and intellectual capabilities in young people who wish to serve in various fields of work, particularly within the state's uniformed services.
The bill further states that it aims to determine the core principles of the program, the procedures for participation and the provision of education, training, and experience under the program. It also outlines the opportunities available to those who complete the program and defines the standards for its management and implementation.
